The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be darkened, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and when the mountains are moved, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 When the wild beasts are herded together (in the human habitations); 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 such as, "For what crime were they murdered?" 9 And when the pages are laid open, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 And when the Garden shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 that hide, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 That this is in truth the word of an honoured messenger, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 This is not the utterance of an accursed devil. 25 Whither then go ye? 26 It is naught but a Reminder unto all beings, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
