Behold, thy Lord called Moses: "Go to the people of iniquity,- 10 the people of Pharaoh; will they not be godfearing?' 11 He said: My Lord! Lo! I fear that they will deny me, 12 and my chest will become constricted and my tongue will not be loosed (in my speech), therefore, send to Aaron. 13 They also have a sin against me, and I fear they will slay me.' 14 Said He: "Not so, indeed! Go forth, then, both of you, with Our messages: verily, We shall be with you, listening [to your call]! 15 Go to Pharaoh, both of you, and say, 'We are messengers from the Lord of the Worlds: 16 That you should send the children of Israel with us.' 17 [But when Moses had delivered his message, Pharaoh] said: "Did we not bring thee up among us when thou wert a child? And didst thou not spend among us years of thy [later] life? 18 And [then] you did your deed which you did, and you were of the ungrateful." 19 Moses replied, "I did that when I was one of the misguided, 20 So I fled from you when I feared you. Then my Lord granted me wisdom and prophethood and appointed me [as one] of the messengers. 21 Is this then the blessing with which you reproach me, that you have the Children of Israel for worshipers' 22 Said Pharaoh, "And what is the Lord of the worlds?" 23 He said: The Lord of the heavens and the earth and what is between them, if you would be sure. 24 Pharaoh said to those around him: "Do you hear (what he says)?" 25 He said, 'Your Lord and the Lord of your fathers, the ancients' 26 Said he: Most surely your Apostle who is sent to you is mad. 27 (Moses) said: "Lord of the East and the West, and all between! if ye only had sense!" 28 (The Pharaoh) said: "If you took another god apart from me I will have you incarcerated." 29 Moses said: "Even if I were to bring a Clear Sign to you?" 30 Said Firaun, “Then bring it, if you are of the truthful.” 31 Thereupon [Moses] threw down his staff - and lo! it was a serpent, plainly visible; 32 and he drew his hand (out of his armpit) and lo! it had become a shining object to the beholders. 33
