Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 And their leaders went about, “Leave him and cling steadfastly to your Gods! Indeed he has a hidden objective in this!” 6 “We never heard of this even in Christianity, the latest religion; this is clearly a newly fabricated matter.” 7 Hath unto him the admonition been sent down from amongst us! Yea! they are in doubt concerning My admonition. Yea! they have not yet tasted My torment. 8 Or is it that they have the treasures of the mercy of your Lord, the Mighty, the great Giver? 9 Is the kingdom of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, for them? So would they not just ascend using ropes? 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 Before them the people of Noah, Ad, and Pharaoh of the tent-pegs gave the lie (to the Messengers) 12 And Thamud, and the people of Lout (Lot), and the dwellers of the wood; such were the confederates. 13 Not one of them but belied the Messengers, therefore My Torment was justified, 14
