The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 (Regardless of any Signs these people see), they turn away and say: “This is an ongoing sorcery.” 2 And they call (it) a lie, and follow their low desires; and every affair has its appointed term. 3 And there has already come to them of information that in which there is deterrence - 4 but the warnings have proved to have no effect on them. 5 So turn thou away from them. Upon the day when the Caller shall call unto a horrible thing, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 Then We opened the portals of heaven with water poured out. 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 floated on under Our eyes: a vindication of him who had been rejected. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Smashing down men as if they were uprooted trunks of date palms. 20 How was then My punishment and My commination! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
