The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Read and your Lord is Most Honorable, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Have you considered if he gives the lie to the truth and turns (his) back? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 Yes certainly, if he does not desist, We will seize him by the forelock. 15 a lying, sinful forelock. 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
