And assuredly We have created human being from ringing clay of loam moulded. 26 while We had brought the jinn into being before out of blazing fire. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 "So, when I have fashioned him completely and breathed into him (Adam) the soul which I created for him, then fall (you) down prostrating yourselves unto him." 29 Then the angels bowed themselves all together, 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 [Allah] said, O Iblees, what is [the matter] with you that you are not with those who prostrate?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 Condemned till the day of Doom!" 35 Said he, 'My Lord, respite me till the day they shall be raised.' 36 "You are among the reprieved," (said the Lord), 37 Till the Day of the Time known. 38 [Iblis (Satan)] said: "O my Lord! Because you misled me, I shall indeed adorn the path of error for them (mankind) on the earth, and I shall mislead them all. 39 Except, among them, Your chosen servants." 40 He said: This is a right way with Me: 41 Verily as for My bondmen, no authority shalt thou have over them, except the erring one who follow thee. 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 it has seven gates: and each gate has a portion of them allotted to it. 44
