The Spider (Al-Ankaboot)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ Alif-Lam-Mim. 1 Do people think that they are left alone by saying: 'We are believers' and will not be tried? 2 We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false. 3 Do those who do evil imagine that they will escape Us? How ill they judge! 4 Let those who have the desire to be in the presence of God on the Day of Judgment know that their day will certainly be coming. God is All-Hearing and All-Knowing. 5 And whoever strives hard, he strives only for his own soul; most surely Allah is Self-sufficient, above (need of) the worlds. 6 We shall expiate the sins of the righteously striving believers and shall reward them better than their deeds. 7 We have enjoined upon man kindness to his parents, but if they exert pressure on you to associate with Me in My Divinity any that you do not know (to be My associate), do not obey them. To Me is your return, and I shall let you know all that you have done. 8 And those who accepted faith and did good deeds – We shall indeed include them among the virtuous. 9 And some people say, “We believe in Allah” – so if they are afflicted with some adversity in Allah’s way, they consider the chaos created by men as the punishment from Allah; and if the help comes from your Lord, they will surely say, “Indeed we were with you”; does not Allah well know what is in the hearts of the entire creation? 10 And surely Allah shall come to know those who believe, and surely He shall come to know the hypocrites. 11 And the disbelievers said to the Muslims, “Follow our path and we will bear your sins”; whereas they will not bear anything from their sins; they are indeed liars. 12 They shall certainly carry their loads, and other loads besides their loads, and on the Day of Resurrection, they shall be questioned about what they forged. 13
