Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Reality (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The Thamud and the 'Ad People (branded) as false the Stunning Calamity! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the outburst. 5 The Ads were destroyed by a swift, destructive gale 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any remnants of them? 8 Pharaoh likewise, and those before him, and the Subverted Cities -- they committed error, 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Lo, when the waters rose, We bore you in the running ship 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains are lifted and leveled with one blow - 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 On that Day you shall be exposed, and no secret of yours will remain hidden. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 So he shall have an agreeable life 21 in a lofty paradise, 22 the clusters of whose fruit will be hanging low to be within reach (of the inmates of Paradise). 23 [They will be told], "Eat and drink in satisfaction for what you put forth in the days past." 24 And he that will be given his Record in his left hand, will say: "Ah! Would that my Record had not been given to me! 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 Then throw him in the blazing Fire. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Lo! He used not to believe in Allah the Tremendous, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food except from the discharge of wounds; 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
