The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the Great News 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
