The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is folded up, 1 when the stars shall scatter away, 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 The ten-month pregnant female camels are abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls shall be coupled, 7 And when the female (infant) buried alive (as the pagan Arabs used to do) shall be questioned. 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when the sky is unveiled, 11 and when the blazing fire [of hell] is kindled bright, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 Then every soul shall know that which it hath presented. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 and by the night as it recedes, 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 Where to are you then heading? 26 This is naught but an admonition unto the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
