The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Woe to the stinters; 1 those who, when they take from others by measure, take their full share; 2 but who, when they measure or weigh for others, give less than their due. 3 Do they not realise that they will be raised to life 4 (To be raised) for a Great Day? 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 A written record. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 And none belieth it save each trespasser, sinner. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No indeed! On that Day they will be screened off from seeing their Lord, 15 Then lo! they verily will burn in hell, 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 But, the Book of the righteous is in the 'Illiyoon. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 It is a written book, 20 witnessed by all who have [ever] been drawn close unto God. 21 Lo! the righteous verily are in delight, 22 On thrones, looking (at all things). 23 and in their faces you shall know the radiance of bliss. 24 They are made to quaff of a pure drink that is sealed (to others). 25 whose seal is musk – so let all aspirants aspire after that – 26 And it is mixed with Tasneem. 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 The sinners laughed at the believers 29 And whenever they passed by them, used to wink one to another (in mockery); 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 The infidels have indeed been rewarded for that which they had been doing. 36
God the Almighty always says the truth.
