The Night (Al-Layl)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night when it envelopeth, 1 And the day when it shines in all its glory, 2 And [by] He who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 Then as for him who gives away and guards (against evil), 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 So We will very soon provide him hardship. 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 I have warned you then about a raging Fire: 14 No one will burn in it but the most wretched, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But the God-fearing shall be kept away from it, 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 Except the seeking of the pleasure of his Lord, the Most High. 20 And indeed, soon he will be very pleased. 21
