He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him you attend; 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 and fearfully, 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and herbage, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces that Day will be beaming, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
