The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But as for him who is given his book behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 Surely he thought that he would never return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 Surely ye shall ride layer upon layer. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
