And verily Yunus was of the sent ones. 139 When he fled unto the laden ship, 140 And then they cast lots, and he was the one who lost; 141 Then the big Fish did swallow him, and he had done acts worthy of blame. 142 And had he not been of those who [even in the deep darkness of their distress are able to] extol God's limitless glory, 143 He would have tarried in its belly till the day when they are raised; 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 And We made a gourd tree grow over him. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 And they believed; so We permitted them to enjoy (their life) for a while. 148 Now ask thou them: are there for thy Lord daughters and for them sons? 149 Or created We the angels females while they were present? 150 Oh, verily, it is out of their own [inclination to] falsehood that some people assert, 151 " Allah has begotten," and indeed, they are liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What ails you that you judge in such a wise? 154 Will you not then reflect? 155 Do you have clear authority? 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 160 So indeed, you [disbelievers] and whatever you worship, 161 can cause anyone to fall prey to your temptation 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 The angels say, "Each of us has an appointed place. 164 we are those who stand ranged in ranks. 165 “And indeed we are those who say His purity.” 166 And indeed they (Arab pagans) used to say; 167 If we had but a reminder from the men of old 168 then were we God's sincere servants.' 169 But when it came to them, they rejected it. They shall soon come to know (the end of such an attitude). 170 Already has Our Word been passed before (this) to our Servants sent (by Us), 171 Most surely they shall be the assisted ones 172 and Our host -- they are the victors. 173 Therefore turn away from them for some time. 174 See them and soon they shall see. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 When it comes down on their plains, it will be an evil dawn for those who had been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 and see; soon they shall see! 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
