The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is no belying its coming to pass-- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be crumbled to atoms, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye will be three kinds: 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the preceders are the preceders. 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 And a few from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear therein ill speech or commission of sin - 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And shade extended 30 and flowing water 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and upraised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 for the people of the right hand 38
