He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 Yet you pay attention 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And hath fear, 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
