The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 And when the earth shall be stretched forth. 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man, having striven hard towards your Lord, you shall meet Him: 6 Then as for he who is given his record in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 shall call for destruction 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 thinking he would never revert (to Us). 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 I do not need to swear by the sunset, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). 19 Then what ails them, that they believe not, 20 And when the Qur'an is read to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
