HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 and gives so little [of himself for the good of his soul,] and so grudgingly? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Has he not been informed of what is in the Scrolls of Moses, 36 And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (or conveyed) all that (what Allah ordered him to do or convey), 37 That no soul shall bear another's burden, 38 That a man receives but only that for which he strives; 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 that it is He who causes death and gives life; 44 and He it is Who created the two kinds, the male and the female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 and that upon Him is the second creation 47 And that it is He who enriches and suffices 48 It is He who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 and Thamood, sparing no one, 51 Like the people of Noah before them, who were surely oppressors and rebellious; 52 and He overthrew the subverted cities [of Sodom and Gomorrah] 53 So there covered them that which did cover (i.e. torment with stones). 54 On which then of your Lord's signs do you cast doubt? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The near event draws nigh. 57 None, except Allah, can avert it. 58 At this discourse then marvel ye? 59 And will ye laugh and not weep,- 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Prostrate yourselves before Allah, and serve Him. ۩ 62
