The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat)
182 verses, revealed in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those (angels) ranged in ranks (or rows). 1 And so are strong in repelling (evil), 2 And those who recite the message, 3 Verily your God is One, 4 Lord of the heavens and of the earth and all that is between them, and Lord of the sun's risings. 5 Lo! We have adorned the lowest heaven with an ornament, the planets; 6 and guarded it against all rebellious devils: 7 These satans cannot listen to what transpires in the High Council for they are pelted away from every side 8 They are rejected and theirs is an everlasting punishment; 9 Except such as snatch away something by stealth, and they are pursued by a flaming fire, of piercing brightness. 10 So ask them (that is, human beings): “Were they harder to create than the objects We created?” We created them from sticky clay. 11 Nay, but whereas thou dost marvel, they [only] scoff; 12 And when they are reminded, they remember not. 13 When they are shown a sign, they scoff at it 14 and say: 'This is nothing but clear sorcery' 15 What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 16 And our forefathers? 17 Say, "You will certainly be brought back to life in disgrace". 18 It will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e. the second blowing of the Trumpet)], and behold, they will be staring! 19 And they will say: Ah! woe be unto us! this is the Day of Requital. 20 "(Yes,) this is the Day of Judgement you had called a lie." 21
