A numerous company from among the first, 39 And a large group from the latter. 40 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 41 In hot wind and boiling water, 42 scalding water and under a shadow of black smoke, 43 neither cool, neither goodly; 44 Verily they have been heretofore affluent. 45 and had persisted in the Great Sin. 46 It was they who said, "Shall we be resurrected after we die and have turned into dust and bones? 47 And also our forefathers?" 48 Say: "Yea, those of old and those of later times, 49 "All will surely be gathered together for appointed Meeting of a known Day. 50 Then indeed you, the astray, the deniers – 51 you shall eat (the fruit) of the Tree of Zakkum. 52 And filling with it your bellies 53 and will thereupon have to drink [many a draught] of burning despair 54 Drinking even as the camel drinketh. 55 That will be their entertainment on the Day of Recompense! 56 We have created you, then why would you not confirm it? 57 Have you thought about [the semen] that you discharge -- 58 Do you make a human out of it, or is it We Who create? 59 We have decreed among you Death; We shall not be outstripped; 60 That We may transfigure you and make you what ye know not. 61 You have surely known of the first creation. Why then, will you not remember! 62 See ye the seed that ye sow in the ground? 63 Is it you who cultivate it, or is it We Who develop it? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 Lo! we are laden with debt! 66 "Nay, but we are deprived!" 67 Have you considered the water which you drink? 68 Is it you who cause it to descend from the clouds, or do We? 69 If We willed, We verily could make it salt (and undrinkable), why then do you not give thanks (to Allah)? 70 Behold! the fire which ye strike out: 71 Is it you who produced its tree, or are We the producer? 72 We! it is We Who made it a reminder and a provision unto the campers. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74
