Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 and by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Do men think that We shall never be able to assemble their bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 At length, when the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon shall be ecliped. 8 and the sun and moon are brought together, 9 On that Day shall man say: whither is the fleeing. 10 Alas! No refuge! 11 Unto thy Lord is the recourse that day. 12 On that day man is told the tale of that which he hath sent before and left behind. 13 He shall be a clear proof against himself, 14 even though he offer his excuses. 15 (O Prophet), do not stir your tongue hastily (to commit the Revelation to memory). 16 Indeed assembling the Qur’an and reading it are upon Us. 17 So when We have read it, you should thereupon follow what is read. 18 and then, it will be for Us to make its meaning clear. 19 Nay, but ye do love the fleeting Now 20 And neglect the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking toward their Lord. 23 And that day will other faces be despondent, 24 Imagining that there will befall them a waiste-breaking calomity. 25 Yes indeed, when the soul will reach up to the throat. 26 And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?" 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And one shin will curl up with the other shin. 29 on that Day he will be driven towards your Lord! 30
