He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or take heed and so the reminder might avail him? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 to a rich man, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and in awe of God 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He causeth him to die, and putteth him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So man must look at his food. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And We made corn grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on the Day when each man shall flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
