Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
