The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Read: In the name of thy Lord Who createth, 1 created man out of a germ-cell 2 Read, and your Lord only is the Most Beneficent, 3 who, by the pen, taught the human being: 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 In that he looketh upon himself as self-sufficient. 7 truly, all will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 What is your opinion – if he were upon guidance, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Does he not realize that God sees him? 14 Let him beware! If he does not desist, We will drag him by the forelock -- 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We too would summon the braves of the army. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
