The people of 'Ad accused the messengers of lies. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: "Will you not take heed? 124 "Verily! I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 "And no reward whatever do I ask of you for it: my reward rests with none but the Sustainer of all the worlds. 127 Do you build over each high place a sign to amuse yourselves! 128 and make for yourselves mighty castles, [hoping] that you might become immortal? 129 “And when you apprehend someone, you seize him mercilessly?” 130 Rather keep your duty to Allah, and obey me. 131 “Fear Him Who has aided you with the things you know.” 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 “Indeed I fear upon you the punishment of a Great Day.” 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether thou admonish us or be not among (our) admonishers! 136 This is just a habit of antiquated people. 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 And so they gave him the lie: and thereupon We destroyed them. In this [story,] behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
