Nay, by the Moon 32 And by the night when it withdraws, 33 and the morning when it appears, 34 Surely, it is one of the gravest things, 35 it is a warning to man, 36 To any of you that chooses to press forward, or to follow behind;- 37 Every soul will be a pledge for that which it hath earned, 38 Except the companions of the right, 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We indulged and persisted in useless disputes, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 So, the intercession of intercessors will not avail them. 48 Then what is [the matter] with them that they are, from the reminder, turning away 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means. In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 Let any who will, keep it in remembrance! 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
