The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And [by] the day when it appears 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 O men, you truly strive towards the most diverse ends! 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We shall ease the way of fortune for him. 7 But as for one who is miserly and unheeding, 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We shall surely ease him to the Hardship; 10 And what will his wealth avail him when he falls? 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 none shall enter it but the most wicked, 15 Who belieth and turneth away. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who gives away his wealth, purifying himself 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
