The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the star when it sets: 1 your comrade is not astray, neither errs, 2 nor does he speak out of his own desire. 3 Indeed it is not except a Revelation which is revealed, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and came closer, 8 until he was two bow-lengths away or even closer 9 So did (Allah) convey the Inspiration to His slave [Muhammad SAW through Jibrael (Gabriel)]. 10 The (Prophet's) heart lied not (in seeing) what he (Muhammad SAW) saw. 11 What, will you dispute with him about what he sees! 12 Indeed, he saw him in another descent 13 at the Lote Tree (Sidrat tree) of the ending 14 Close to which is the Garden of Tranquility, 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 (His) sight never swerved, nor did it go wrong! 17 Assuredly he beheld of the sign of his Lord, the greatest. 18 Have you ever thought about al-Lat and al-Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third, the other? 20 What! for you the males and for Him the females! 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 These are only names given by yourselves and your fathers. God has not given them any authority. They, (unbelievers), only follow mere conjecture and the desires of their souls, even though guidance has already come to them from their Lord. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 But it is to Allah that the End and the Beginning (of all things) belong. 25
