He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet) frowned and turned away, 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to blame if he would not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 you ignore him. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what thing did He create him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man look at his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 and burgeoning enclosed gardens 30 fruits, and grass. 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness will cover them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
