The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Woe to Al-Mutaffifin [those who give less in measure and weight (decrease the rights of others)], 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 On a Great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Nay! Surely the record of the wicked is (preserved) in Sijjin. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 Who deny the Day of Recompense. 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 Verily, from (the Light of) their Lord, that Day, will they be veiled. 15 Then, verily they will indeed enter and taste the burning flame of Hell. 16 Then shall it be said: This is what you gave the lie to. 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 and what shall teach thee what is Illiyun? 19 A book inscribed, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On couches face to face. 23 You will find in their faces the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 The last of it is musk. So for this let the competitors compete. 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A spring whence those brought near (to Allah) drink. 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 and when they saw them, they said [scornfully], "These men have surely gone astray," 32 Yet they were not sent to be their guardians. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On (high) thrones, looking (at all things). 35 Have the disbelievers [not] been rewarded [this Day] for what they used to do? 36
