Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the dawn, 1 And by ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd, 3 And the night when it departeth, 4 Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand? 5 Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, 6 (And) the tall giants of Iram? 7 The like of which was not created in the lands; 8 And with Thamud who hewed out rocks in the vale, 9 And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes? 10 who transgressed in the countries of the world 11 And who then spread a lot of turmoil in them. 12 Therefore your Lord let down upon them a portion of the chastisement. 13 Verily, your Lord is Ever Watchful (over them). 14 And as for man, when his Lord tries him, then treats him with honor and makes him lead an easy life, he says: My Lord honors me. 15 But when He tests him by straitening his sustenance, he says: “My Lord has humiliated me.” 16 But no; you do not treat the orphan honourably, 17 And urge not on the feeding of AlMiskin (the poor)! 18 Why do you take away the inheritance of others indiscriminately 19 and you have a love of wealth which can never be satisfied. 20 Nay, but when the earth is ground to atoms, grinding, grinding, 21 and (when you find yourself) in the presence of your Lord and the rows and rows of angels, your greed for riches will certainly be of no avail to you. 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He shall say, 'O would that I had forwarded for my life!' 24 On that Day no one will punish as He punishes, 25 And none can bind as He will bind. 26 'O soul at peace, 27 return to your Lord well pleased with him and He will be pleased with you. 28 "Enter thou, then, among My devotees! 29 And enter My Paradise." 30
God the Almighty always says the truth.
