The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 Indeed your efforts differ. 4 So for one who gave and practised piety 5 And believed the best matter to be true 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for him who is niggardly, and thinks that he is self-sufficient, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 So I have warned you of a Fire which is blazing. 14 None shall roast therein but the most wretched, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 One who fears God shall be kept away from it -- 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 and owes no favour to anyone, which is to be repaid, 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 and before long he will be well satisfied. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
