The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the declining star, 1 Your comrade erreth not, nor is deceived; 2 And he speaketh not of his own desire. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 He has been taught by the Extremely Powerful. 5 One of soundness. And he rose to [his] true form 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he drew nigh and came down 8 So the distance between the Spectacle and the beloved was only two arms’ length, or even less. (The Heavenly Journey of Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him – was with body and soul.) 9 then revealed to his servant that he revealed. 10 The heart lied not in that which he saw. 11 Will you then argue with him about what he saw? 12 And he certainly saw him in another descent 13 At the Lote Tree of the Utmost Boundary - 14 close to the Garden of Refuge. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 The sight did not shift, nor did it cross the limits. 17 He saw some of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have ye then considered Al-Lat and AL-'uzza: 19 and your third idol al-Manat (whom you considered as God's daughters)? 20 Are there sons for you, and daughters for Him? 21 That is indeed an unfair division! 22 They are not but [mere] names you have named them - you and your forefathers - for which Allah has sent down no authority. They follow not except assumption and what [their] souls desire, and there has already come to them from their Lord guidance. 23 Does man imagine that it is his due to have all that he might wish for, 24 Rather, to Allah belongs the Hereafter and the first [life]. 25
