Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The Reality! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what do you know what that indubitable event is? 3 Thamud and 'Aad denied the Striking Calamity. 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 which continued to strike them for seven nights and eight days so that eventually you could see the people lying dead like the hollow trunks of uprooted palm-trees. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And Fir'awn and those before him and the overturned cities committed sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 In order to make it a remembrance for you, and in order that the ears that store may remember. 12 Then, when one blast is sounded on the Trumpet, 13 the earth and mountains will be raised up high and crushed all together. 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that Day it (the heaven will be frail (weak), and torn up, 16 and the angels will stand on the sides, with eight of them bearing aloft the Throne of your Lord on that Day. 17 You will then be set before Him, and not one of you will remain unexposed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Indeed, I was certain that I would be meeting my account." 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 in a lofty garden, 22 its clusters nigh to gather. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 Would that it (my death) had ended it all! 27 My wealth hath not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 Nor any food save filth 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
