The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 and gently take it away; 2 And [by] those who glide [as if] swimming 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And those who govern the event, 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 Unable to lift their gaze. 9 The disbelievers say, “Will we really return to our former state?” 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But it shall be only a single scare, 13 and then, lo, they will be fully awakened [to the truth]! 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 “Tell him ‘Do you have the inclination to become pure?’ 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 So he showed him the greater sign; 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 then he mustered 23 Yet to a rich man, 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Indeed in this is a lesson for one who fears. 26
