The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 but when they measure or weigh, give less. 3 Do they not realize that they will be resurrected 4 on a Great Day, 5 the Day when people will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 By no means! Verily the record of the ungodly is in Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what the Sijjin is? 8 (There is) a Register (fully) inscribed. 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 and those who have rejected the Day of Judgment. 11 No one rejects it except the sinful transgressors 12 When Our revelations are recited before him, he says: "These are fables of long ago." 13 They will never have faith. In fact, their hearts are stained from their deeds. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 and then they shall enter Hell, 16 whereafter they will be told: “This is what you used to give the lie to.” 17 Indeed the record of the virtuous is in the highest place, the Illiyin. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 The ones nearest to God will bring it to public. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 upon their faces thou wilt see the brightness of bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 its seal will be of musk -- for this let the aspirants aspire -- 26 And the admixture of it is a water of Tasnim, 27 A fountain from which drink they who are drawn near (to Allah). 28 The sinners indeed laughed at believers 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 And when they returned to their own folk, they returned jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 Yet they were not sent as watchers over them. 33 So this day it is the believers who laugh at the disbelievers. 34 On adorned couches, observing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
