Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 Given to drink of a spring fiercely boiling. 5 They shall have no food but of thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 And at the sky - how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Surely to Us is their turning back, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
