'Aad denied the messengers 123 Their brother Hud asked them, "Why do you not have fear of God? 124 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust: 125 So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 “What! You build a structure on every height, to laugh at the passers-by?” 128 And take ye for yourselves castles that haply ye may abide. 129 When you assault, you assault like tyrants. 130 So fear Allah, and obey me. 131 and [thus] be conscious of Him who has [so] amply provided you with all [the good] that you might think of 132 He has bestowed on you cattle, and sons, 133 and gardens, and springs -- 134 Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a terrible day." 135 They said: It is the same to us whether you admonish or are not one of the admonishers 136 This [religion of ours] is none other than that to which our forebears clung, 137 and we shall not be punished." 138 So they gave him the lie, then We destroyed them. Most surely there is a sign in this, but most of them do not believe. 139 And verily thy Lord? He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 140
