In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Sad. CONSIDER this Qur'an, endowed with all that one ought to remember! 1 Those who deny the truth are steeped in arrogance and hostility. 2 How many generations before them did We destroy? In the end they cried (for mercy)- when there was no longer time for being saved! 3 And they were surprised that a Herald of Warning came to them from among themselves; and the disbelievers said, “He is a magician, a great liar!” 4 Maketh he the gods One God? Verily that is a thing astounding! 5 And their leaders launch forth [thus]: "Go ahead, and hold steadfastly onto your deities: this, behold, is the only thing to do! 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Hath the reminder been unto him (alone) among us? Nay, but they are in doubt concerning My reminder; nay but they have not yet tasted My doom. 8 Do they have the stores of the mercy of your Lord, the mighty and munificent? 9 Do they own the heavens and the earth and all that is between them? Let them try on their own to block (the ways of heavens so that Our revelations cannot come to you). 10 A defeated host are (all) the factions that are there. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 There was not one of those that did not belie the Messengers. Therefore, My retribution was realized. 14
