Unknown Person (Al-Muzzammil)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! 1 worship (God) for a few hours at night. 2 half of it, or reduce it a little; 3 Or increase thereto. And intone the Qur'an with measured intonations. 4 Indeed, We will cast upon you a heavy word. 5 Lo! the vigil of the night is (a time) when impression is more keen and speech more certain. 6 surely in the day thou hast long business. 7 So remember the name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with exclusive devotion. 8 Lord of the east and the west! No God is there but He! Wherefore take Him for thy trustee. 9 And bear thou patiently what they say, and forsake them graciously. 10 And leave Me Alone to deal with the beliers (those who deny My Verses, etc.), and those who are in possession of good things of life. And give them respite for a little while. 11 Verily with Us are heavy fetters and Scorch. 12 And food that chokes and a painful punishment, 13 On the Day when the earth and the mountains will be in violent shake, and the mountains will be a heap of sand poured out and flowing down. 14 Verily We! We have sent unto you an apostle, a witness over you, even as We sent unto Fir'awn an apostle. 15 But Pharoah rebelled against the messenger, so We seized him with a strong, crushing grip. 16 How then, if you disbelieve, will you preserve yourselves on the day which will even turn the children hoary? 17 Whereon the sky will be cleft asunder? His Promise needs must be accomplished. 18 Verily this is a reminder. So let him who desires take the way to his Lord. 19
