The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 that they are in utter disagreement? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 The night a covering, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Certainly Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a fitting requital, 26 Behold, they were not expecting to be called to account, 27 But they belied Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, and that which Our Prophet (Peace be upon him) brought) completely. 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste [the penalty], and never will We increase you except in torment." 30
