The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the heaven and the comer by night; 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the Star of piercing brightness;- 3 No human soul but hath a guardian over it. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Indeed Allah is Able to return him. 8 On the Day when secrets are disclosed, 9 Then will he have no might nor any helper. 10 By the heavens, ever-revolving, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 this is indeed a Decisive Word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 So give a respite to the disbelievers. Deal thou gently with them for a while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
