Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
HA MIM. 1 By the manifest Book (that makes things clear, i.e. this Quran). 2 We have indeed sent it as a Qur’an in the Arabic language, so that you may understand. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 Should We have withdrawn the Reminder from you as you are a people who exceed the bounds? 5 We have sent many a prophet to earlier peoples 6 And there came not to them a prophet but they mocked at him. 7 And We destroyed greater than them in [striking] power, and the example of the former peoples has preceded. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 [The one] who has made for you the earth a bed and made for you upon it roads that you might be guided 10 And Who sendeth down from the heaven water in measure; then We quicken a dead land therewith: even so ye shall be brought forth. 11 And, (it is He) who has created all the pairs and appointed for you ships and the cattle on which you ride, 12 So that when you sit astride of them and think of the bounties of your Lord, you may say: "All glory to Him who subjugated these for us. We were incapable of doing so. 13 And verily unto our Lord we are to return. 14 And they allot to Him a portion of His bondmen! Lo! man is verily a mere ingrate. 15
