Thamood, too, belied Our warnings. 23 They said: 'Are we to follow a mortal who is one of us? Then indeed, we would surely be in error and insane. 24 Was there none but he to whom the Reminder could be vouchsafed excluding all others? Nay; he is an insolent liar.” 25 "Tomorrow they will know who is the impudent liar! 26 We are sending to them as a trial, a shecamel, so watch them and have patience. 27 And let them know that the water [of their wells] is to be divided between them, with each share of water equitably apportioned." 28 But they called their comrade and he took (a sword) and killed (her). 29 How then were My chastisement and My warnings? 30 Indeed, We sent upon them one blast from the sky, and they became like the dry twig fragments of an [animal] pen. 31 We made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would take heed? 32 The people of Lot cried lies to the warnings. 33 We sent a stone-hurtling storm against them, except the family of Lot whom We saved in the early hours of the morning 34 as a favour from Us. Thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And certainly he warned them of Our violent seizure, but they obstinately disputed the warning. 36 Even his guests they had solicited of him; so We obliterated their eyes, saying, 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 'Taste now My chastisement and My warnings!' 39 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 40
