The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and gives ear to its Lord, and is fitly disposed; 2 when the earth is stretched out 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 Whoever is given the Record in his right hand 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given his ledger from behind his back 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 So by oath of the late evening’s light. 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she is at the full, 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What is the matter with them that they do not accept faith? 20 and when the Koran is recited to them that they do not prostrate! ۩ 21 Nay, but the unbelievers are crying lies, 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 So announce to them a painful punishment~ 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
