Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 and couches raised high, 13 and goblets set forth 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not then ponder how the clouds were formed; 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
