The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 So those on the right – how (fortunate) are those on the right! 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 they who were [always] drawn close unto God! 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And in everlasting shade. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruit in abundance. 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And exalted thrones. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 chaste, loving companions of the same age 37 like of age for the Companions of the Right. 38
