And certainly We sent Musa with Our communications and a clear authority, 96 To Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and his chiefs, but they followed the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh), and the command of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) was no right guide. 97 He will go before his people on the Day of Judgment, and lead them into the Fire (as cattle are led to water): But woeful indeed will be the place to which they are led! 98 Damned will they be in this world, and on the Day of Doom how evil the gift that they will receive! 99 These are a few accounts of settlements that We narrate to you. Some still survive, and some have been mowed down. 100 for, no wrong did We do to them, but it was they who wronged themselves. And when thy Sustainer's judgment came to pass, those deities of theirs which they had been wont to invoke instead of God proved of no avail whatever to them, and brought them no more than utter perdition. 101 And such is the punishment of your Lord when He punishes the towns while they are unjust; surely His punishment is painful, severe. 102 Surely in that is a sign for him who fears the chastisement of the Hereafter. That will be a Day when all men shall be mustered together; that will be a Day when whatever happens shall be witnessed by all. 103 And We do not postpone it except for a fixed term. 104 The Day it comes no soul will speak except by His permission. And among them will be the wretched and the prosperous. 105 The wretched ones will be in the Fire sighing and groaning, 106 Remaining in it as long as the heavens and the earth remain, except as much as your Lord willed*; indeed your Lord may do whatever, whenever, He wills. (* Remaining forever even after the heavens and the earth are destroyed.) 107 ۞ And as to those who are made happy, they shall be in the garden, abiding in it as long as the heavens and the earth endure, except as your Lord please; a gift which shall never be cut off. 108 So be not thou in doubt concerning that which these (folk) worship. They worship only as their fathers worshipped aforetime. Lo! we shall pay them their whole due unabated. 109
