The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night enshrouding 1 By the day when it appeareth in glory, 2 And by oath of the One Who created the male and the female. 3 Verily your endeavour is diverse. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 And (in all sincerity) testifies to the best,- 6 We will make smooth for him the path of ease (goodness). 7 but for him that is a miser, and sufficed, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 We will make smooth for him the path for evil; 10 and their wealth will be of no benefit to them when they face destruction. 11 Surely it is for Us to show the Right Way, 12 And truly, unto Us (belong) the last (Hereafter) and the first (this world). 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None shall enter it but the most unhappy, 15 He who denieth and turneth away. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 He verily will be content. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
